Joy Of Dawn

Each new day shows His grace, love, and mercy

Silly Mornings with Amber

I’m a night owl by nature. Can’t help myself. I’d stay up late all the time and sleep half the day… If only I could. Alas, I’m a big sister as well, and that holds a position of responsibility. However fortunate or unfortunate as that may be. So, almost every morning, I awake at 5:30 and find something to put on. Slap a smile on my face to try and cover up my yawning, then join my little sister in the car by 5:45.
I awake to music every morning. If had to rely on commonly known sounds that come from alarms… You know the ones. I’d never ever have a good morning. šŸ™‚Ā  Right now I have Jazz playing when I wake up! It so nice to wake up into something cheery but not so much so that I just want to tell them to shut up, until I find my own smile.
Once we are both in the car, my mission is to make sure that girl is smiling about SOMETHING, anything, when she gets to the automatic doors of that store she works at. We listen to her favorite music… Josh Groban and I do whatever works to put a smile on her pretty face. Most mornings it is apple pie easy. Sometimes it means getting super silly, just to see her laugh is worth every drop of humiliation and more.
See, she is a morning person… That made for a very weird sleeping arrangement when we shared a bedroom. Every night I’d sneak in late and every morning she’d slip out early. I’m a lite sleeper so I hear everything. (One of the reasons why waking up to music works for me.) She has the ability to sleep through some of the loudest thunder storms. It also means that on many a morning there is already a smile on her face and all I have to do is make sure it stays there!
You know what happens when you start your day with a goal of making someone else happy? You can’t help but be happy yourself.Ā  Mostly because you spend the rest of the morning laughing at your own jokes. šŸ˜€ No one can tell you when to be happy or why to be happy it is a choice we all get to make. If we look for the good in every situation it makes it harder to frown. Not impossible but harder. An if that doesn’t pick up your mood… Play the bright and cheery music on your playlist and stay away from those songs that are more serious. šŸ™‚
Smile cause it is good for the soul. Smile cause it is contagious. Smile just to see someone else do it. Smile cause… Do I really need to give you anymore reasons? šŸ˜€
Smile cause, someday, you just might need some one to help you smile too.
Good morning! šŸ™‚

  1. This is nice, Amber. Smiles are important! I like yours šŸ™‚ – in fact, I recall that your smile was one of the things I wrote in my gratitude journal quite awhile ago. šŸ™‚

    • Thanks! I like my smile too! I’m more and more grateful for joy and happiness everyday. Smiles are such a blessing to me lately and it is something no one minds sharing! šŸ™‚
